2 oz Bicardi Superior rum
1 oz Rose’s lime juice
4 oz Verner’s

combined in glass with ice. didn’t stir.

This tasted good, but I think vodka is a better mixer for a mule/buck than rum. At least for rum, I think one should use less lime juice; I just looked at a recipe online that recommended 0.5oz lime juice and 3oz ginger ale. I should try using actual lime juice instead of Rose’s. I think that would taste a lot better in general. Rose’s also reminds me of drinking a lot of tequila when I was an undergrad.

Moscow Mule

2 oz Skyy vodka
1 oz Rose’s lime juice
4 oz Verner’s

combined in glass with ice and stirred.

I’ve had the Skyy for a long time, probably since I’ve been in Seattle. So, eight+ years? It’s usually been in the freezer, and vodka doesn’t go bad, does it? It had been opened before. Everything else is of normal age and had been refrigerated. I could have added a lime garnish, but I did not.

It was good, although not as gingery as I wanted. Perhaps less lime juice and/or more ale. Or a different ale or actual ginger beer. It was pretty strong, but that did not hit me until perhaps 30 minutes later. It also made me feel a little alcoholic, so perhaps something funky happened to the vodka. Something to keep track of next time I use the spirit.
