busy

// 2007.12.17 09:51 //

Alas, no weblog entries; we have been on the outrageously busy side. Jesse is visiting from Oakland, but fortunately he is busy too, and had to bring a lot of work up with him, so I don’t feel as bad for not being able hang out with him as much. He is going to buy the iPhone Amanda won. We were going to just give it to him, but he insisted on paying as we need to pay for the progeny’s education and whatnot.

lunch in Woodinville

// 2007.12.11 14:06 //

Amanda is working up at Group Health’s Bothell office, so we drove to work together today. Since we ran off in a rush this morning, we did not make lunch, so we went looking for a lunch place in nearby Woodinville. We eventually ate at a Cosi; I had never been in one, but Amanda had. I had a hummus sandwich while Amanda preferred a Greek Salad. Amanda remarked that we had not met for lunch and then gone back to work (discounting telecommuting or other working at home) in a long time. I actually can’t remember how long. Never, maybe?
We idly perused a Barnes and Noble before heading back to work. I found out where the Woodinville Park and Ride was located; the 522 bus heads out there before/after my bus stop beside I405.

plumpness looms ominously

// 2007.12.06 10:08 //

My new commute is wreaking havoc with my gym activities. Translation: no buffness for me. My one way trip via the 7 to downtown Seattle and the 522 to Woodinville took two hours door-to-door. If one of us drives and drops the other off (usually I would be doing the driving), the commute is still around 1.5 hours one way. Ah, well. A straight drives takes between 25-90 minutes depending on traffic.
The Prius’s brakes suddenly got alarmingly soft, so I did not drive today although Amanda could take the bus herself as she is in clinic today. I managed to get a quick appointment for it tomorrow, though. It does have 20k miles on it, so they do need to be serviced soon anyway. I had the guys who did my oil change a while ago check them out, but they said they were fine, although I should have asked them more specifics.

floods!

// 2007.12.03 16:57 //

After the snowpacalypse, the floods have started. The area in Bothell where I work had a “mandatory evacuation”, so I got out of there. I was telling Amanda that “evacuation” was too strong a word as implies situations like getting lifted off a roof via helicopter or somesuch.
It was raining pretty hard this morning when I drove Amanda to some adolescent detention center for work. I had dropped her off outside the complex where we thought she could enter, but I then decided to follow her as I anticipated her not being able to get in and exploding with frustration. That wouldn’t be good. When I caught up with her on another side of the place, I did note her gripping her coffee extremely tightly and steam coming out of her ears, but I picked her up again and all was well. We later found a better place for entry.
Driving back from Bothell was rather adventurous, though. I had never seen the traction control light in the car come on as much as it did today. Worked a bit more at home before venturing out for more prescription cat food for the little one and picking up Amanda, who had moved on to Harborview.
Apparently, the new townhouses beside us had completely flooded out (they don’t have landscaping yet, and I think they are in the process of hooking up the sewer lines) and dumped a bunch of debris down 35th on our side which then plugged up our sewer between all the townhouses. Fortunately, some neighbors were here and took care of it. I guess our builder came by to help us with an industrial strength vacuum and pump to clear the drain. I wonder if he will charge the other developer.
Amanda is taking a nap now, but she has to go to yet another adolescent clinic up on Capital Hill near where we used to live. I will work some more then as well. Theoretically, she will be going to a clinic with Group Health in Bothell, which is right beside my new employer, but I dunno if the state of emergency will be lifted yet. Maybe we will both stay home with the piglet.

snowpacalypse

// 2007.12.01 14:07 //

We are currently engulfed in a whiteout right now. I reminds me of upstate New York, but I doubt it will last. Amanda had clinic this morning, and she is now knitting somewhere with Carrie. She probably has to go in for a delivery later. At least the little one has me at home right now. I should probably write more weblog entries, but there are many household things to do. And there is always my required spacing out time.
