Piglet piglet is having urinary problems again. I dropped her off at the vet; hopefully they can get a sampe so that she can come back home tonight.

We hosted a parenting meeting at our house today (I forget what the program is called). We meet at a different place each Wednesday and discuss early parenting issues. This was the third meeting; I have not found the discussions too illuminating yet, but it is nice to talk to other parents in general. I try to avoid talking parent stuff with non-parents, or perhaps more accurately I don’t talk about Lonan Kai excessively to other people cause they really may not be that interested and I do try to do other things other than be a parent.
Of course, I have missed whole swaths of conversation while trying to calm LK during the meetings. Since they are in the evenings, it is prime fussiness time.
Today I calmed him down with a repeating medley of Brokedown Palace and Three Little Birds sung by me. It works wonders.
Otherwise today time was spent cleaning the house and cooking some stuff for the meeting. I did some gardening and finally got our tomatoes and cucumbers in. I did not make it to the farmer’s market. I was going to do some consulting work today, but I have not gotten all the info yet from the client (a source code dump).
Now LK is sleeping but is very twitchy. Amanda is sleeping downstairs case she needs to sleep and LK does not encourage sleep (even his own!). I am writing this entry in the hallway outside our bedroom so as not to disturb LK while still keeping an eye/ear on him.

So, I have gotten out of the weblog swing of things, what with the progeny and all. I was going to write a stream-of-consciousness thing representing the past few weeks, but perhaps I will just write about what happened today.
My back was in mega pain yesterday, so I took a muscle relaxant that Amanda gave me. Unfortunately, it has the side effect of making me very groggy, so I was spaced out most of the day. And that was after sleeping nine hours with CPAP.
Otherwise, I wrote a bunch of work-seeking emails when I was not groggy. I am negotiating with my former workplace on doing some consulting stuff for them (really, everyone would have been much happier had they not have laid me off and I just finished my contract), but that may or may not happen.
A place I had went through multiple interviews with decided not to hire me. Ah, well, I am not cool like Amanda who got job offers from every single place she interviewed at. I saw that they reposted the position (perhaps slightly altered), so evidently they thought none of the people they talked to were suitable, which seems odd to me (why go through all the multiple levels of interviewing pain and not hire any of your finalists?).
We had veggie fajitas for dinner. Bryan and Mandy came over later, and we had dessert wine and apple crisp.
For the next 39 minutes of today, I will do a bit of cleaning. Exciting.

As punishment for no weblogs entries recently, I managed to cut off the tip of my left index finger harvesting the rest of our swiss chard today. As one might expect, there was lots of blood. Actually, there is still lots of blood. My typing speed has seriously gone downhill.

I just got laid off. I am shocked! SHOCKED! Ok, not really. How dare they lay me off before I can quit! I only had a few days left in my contract anyway. Now I don’t have to finish all this (former) work! Maybe I can get buff again now.
