oops
Sometime over the weekend I saw my eyeglasses on the dining room table and thought “I should put those someplace safe”. I suppose I did, but of course now I don’t remember where that place was. ug.

Amanda took the Kai to IKEA for some in the morning while I tried to catch up on work. When they came back home we did some random yardwork and other chores. MC had given us an electric lawn mower the other day (he had three for some reason), so we finally mowed the grass.
After the progeny’s nap, we tried to go to Costco to get some supplies for a work thing later this week for Amanda, but they were closed. I find it odd that a place not obviously christian would be closing on a truly religious holiday (there are better arguments for Christmas). There were many annoyed people driving in and out of the parking lot during the short time we were present.
Amanda took the Kai to a playground for a short time while I cooked a dinner of pasta and sauce and salad and wine. We ended up not eating the salad, so we will undoubtedly have it tonight.
Amanda watched a kinda silly movie called First Knight, but I fell asleep during it.
I took BK to the airport, um, sometime this week (Wednesday?). Wednesday was also the day I picked up the Kai early from school because he had a crazy 103 temp. I could not get a hold of Amanda that afternoon, so I took him to a meeting for a presentation I had later in the evening at Seattle University that I really could not miss. Amanda did drop by to retrieve him.
The Kai remained rather feverish, so I kept him home on Thursday and Friday.
Saturday, we walked down to Columbia City and had bfast at Geraldine’s Counter. Since the Kai was home the past few days, I have am crazy behind on stuff that has to be done asap (although I had tried to work in the evenings but have passed out too early), so I worked at home while Amanda took the Kai to a park and met up with MC and CC. It was crazy sunny and warm (65 according to the internet).
They eventually came home, and Amanda did some yard work while I put the Kai to bed. He is feeling better, but is still a bit out of sorts. Amanda came in because she had gotten too much sun and was looking red but not yet burnt. I kept working while Amanda futzed with life admin tasks.
After the Kai woke up she went to MC-AC’s house while I did a bit more work. Before I left to meet up with them, I put a latch on the chicken run. Unfortunately, I dropped one of the screws inside the run, and Red immediately picked it up and ran off with it. I entered the run and tried to grab her but when I finally did the screw was no where to be found. I could not find it on the ground or in the henhouse, so it seems likely Red or someone else ate it. That can’t be good, and I was sad. I guess we will see how it goes.
I later joined the rest of the family at MC-AC’s house and had a dinner of macaroni and cheese and vegetables and a little red wine and berry cobbler. Kai still has a low fever, and apparently so do I.
I am listening to him cough. Hopefully tomorrow will see him healthier.
2001 APR 09 : SATURDAY
CY and family came over for a visit. I made fresh pasta. CY was experimenting with the manual function on her SLR camera.
2011 APR 10 : SUNDAY
We went out to the West Seattle Farmer’s Market in the morning and met up with EP and HK. KK was doing something else (sleeping?). We walked through the market, bought a few things (apple juice for the Kai, frozen cherries for the Kai, and pepper raspberry jelly for the rest of us). We then went to Coffee to a Tea with Sugar for drinks and snacks while the kiddies romped about in the play area. I appreciate that Coffee to a Tea always has day old scones and things for pretty cheap.
2011 APR 16 : SATURDAY
I had to meet with someone at Seattle University in the morning, but Amanda and the Kai went over to AC-MC’s place for pancake bfast. Later they also went to a class at the Seattle Gymnastics Academy. LK enjoyed it, but I dunno if I want to start scheduling his life with classes and activities yet.
We did yardwork and stuff later. And we did a grocery run to Trader Joe’s and Madison Market. I got a super cheap magnum of sake at Madison Market… I hope it is good, but if not I can also mix it with cranberry juice.
When LK woke, Amanda and he and MC,CC, and LC went for an adventure to the Space Needle since everyone involved has a membership. They look the light rail downtown then picked up the monorail to the Seattle Center. I drove in case there was an emergency (and since I would have to pay to go up the Needle), but driving took a long time because of traffic which seemed to be due to weird exit/onramp closures and construction on I5.
As it turned out, the Space Needle was closed for a private party, so we just had dinner at the Center House and took in some activities like watching a totem pole getting carved. I took LC back home in the car while everyone else took public transport.
2011 APR 17 : SUNDAY
We took a trip to Costco in the morning to return some towels and getting random supplies and to have a cheap pizza and berry sundae lunch. On the way home, we stopped at an architectural salvage place to check out what they had. Amanda wanted to look for a cheap window to make a cold frame out of. It was an interesting place, but we will have to come back when we are without the Kai. They had an old Seattle Center ticket booth there (“Make an offer!”) which would almost make an insta-henhouse.
We did more gardening and yardwork and whatnot afterwards. It was very sunny, which was nice. I have been keeping the chickens outside during the day but still taking them inside for the night. They seem to have no problems with 46 degree weather, but the evenings recently have been getting down in the mid 30s. I still have to do a bit of stuff to their temporary coop, but we should be able to keep them outside permanently probably by the end of the week. We could do it now, but I don’t want to bother sticking a light in the coop since I should put a few GFI outlets in the basement before doing so.
Amanda did get a lot of the garden planted, though. I guess we will see what grows where in our new place.
