chooks are safe from nando

I saw a few Western Tanagers over the weekend. That was cool.
Amanda was at a conference last week in the Cascades. LK and her mom went with her for a vacation, while I stayed home. There was much to do, so no painting the town red in bachelorhood for me.
I managed to get a 1.5 inch splinter in my foot from our old hardwood floors. I got some of it out, but left the rest (still over 1 inch) in. Its kinda in the upper layer of the skin, so hopefully it will come out by itself without any nasty infection stuff happening. It hurt for quite a while, but doesn’t any more.
We did a lot of gardening and yardwork last weekend. It was very sunny one of the days, so we even had a cookout. Basically more veggie garden work and whatnot. I also leveled out the ground underneath our yard waste composters with old pavers that came with the house. An dug out a big hole for one of our green cone composters and set it up.
The chickens really like getting outside the run, but they must be watched to keep them from eating and digging up the veggie garden and crawling under the fences. When they get bigger that won’t really be a problem. I have decided enough light/heat for them at night. Time to toughen them up.
Amanda signed the Kai up for gymnastic class on Saturday mornings. Maybe soccer and violin lessons are not far behind.
I thought of something really cool this morning taking Amanda to UW, but now I forgot it. A recurring story of my life, sadly.
I just lost a terabyte drive in my desktop/server computer. That sucks. Maybe next time I really really will use RAID to protect against such things.
Thought perhaps a recent xkcd comic puts it all in perspective.
