Haven’t been writing much again for various reasons. I should hook twitter back up again to get content on here.

At the moment I am about to go to a meeting and stopped for lunch and am writing this entry on my phone. I heard Freddy Chen on NPR on the way here  which was cool. He was talking about new medical testing guidelines.

We had someone do a lot of landscaping for us again… raised beds, fix our fence, etc etc… and they should be done today.

Time to be off…

weekend

2012 MAR 23 : FRIDAY
It was a positively gorgeous day, so I retrieved the Kai from school very early and we went to Jefferson Park. I brought the lizard kite that we got him during our vacation. Unfortunately, there was little wind, so it was hard to keep the kite aloft. It could be done with some skill, but not really by a four-year-old. Although running with it worked well enough.

The lack of wind caused the line to get tangled up a bunch of times (even broke a few times), so I had to fix things for the disappointed Kai.

I assuaged LK’s feelings with snack bar from the vending machine in the community center when we left to pick up Amanda from work.

2012 MAR 24 : SATURDAY
Amanda is on call all weekend so we can’t do anything too crazy. Amanda and the Kai went to gymnastics while I cleaned. Afterwards, they returned to pick me up and we went to Seward Park. I had hoped to walk around the park (~2.5 miles) with the Kai riding his bicycle, but we preferred playing in the playground and visiting the turtle in the educational center.

AC-MC family came by as well. I also saw one of our former P-Patch neighbors with her kids (and I have again forgotten their names). Amanda eventually walked around the park with AC while I kept an eye on LK.

One of Kai’s schoolmates E and his older brother were there and they ran and ran and ran about. It was a bit exhausting keeping them from being too obnoxious to other kids.

We eventually went home. Amanda went off to WalMart (?) to pick up a copy of Turbo Tax and some OTC Allegra for me. The Kai and I stayed home and played with playdough and the like. I later gave him a new Trio block set that my mom had got him for good behavior at school which greatly pleased him.

We went over to Amanda’s mom’s place for dinner; she was having people over for dinner and games(?). We did not stay for the games as it was time for LK to go to bed.

Amanda worked on taxes in the evening while I did some project work.

2012 MAR 25 : SUNDAY
Amanda and Kai made waffles for bfast. We finished up out taxes; we will be getting 8K back! Not great to have the government holding on to that much money of ours, but better than unexpected owing money.

We went to Kubota Garden afterwards, much to the displeasure of the Kai who wanted to stay home and play with blocks. But the sun was shining and Amanda said the Kai “needs to make vitamin D”.

The gardens were nice, as was the weather. There have been some changes since I had last been around (stone blocks moved about, a bell in the entrance, etc.). A couple of people were there with a photographer for some reason that was not clear to me… engagement pictures? Just for yuks? The Kai eventually warmed up to the activity after much complaining and took to running about and hiding in the brush and plants to “ambush” us.

We went to Costco afterwards to get random stuff and get lunch.

The Kai is sleeping. I caught up on some financial matters. Amanda sleeping, but now has gotten up and is asking “What are you doing?” The gallinas are making a lot of noise. I do not know what the afternoon holds.

immune system malfunction

// 2012.03.24 00:20 //

There is pollen everywhere, and my allergies are killing me. Loratadine used to work for me in the spring especially combined with fluticosone, but not so much anymore. Cetirizine works better, but unfortunately, it tends to make me need 12+ hours of sleep. Maybe I should see my doctor, eh? And get some expensive thing like Allegra, but my insurance probably won’t pay for it. And really, it may not work all that much better.

While Seattle might seen like the culprit, I did start developing allergies before I moved here. The year-round pollen around here probably doesn’t help, though.

Edit: Allegra became available OTC early this month. I don’t think there are generics available yet. $0.50 a pill which is cheaper than the $3+ per it was when it was still prescription only. Maybe I’ll try some tomorrow.

Babymoon

// 2012.03.18 22:03 // ,

I am in Long Beach, WA, on vacation with Amanda; the Kai’s grandmother is graciously watching him  for a couple of days.

My internet connection sucks here, though, and I an writing this entry on my phone.

Here is a picture from our room. Cheap since Amanda got a Groupon deal plus it is way off season.
