We bought some herbs to plant on the side of house. Amanda thought that we could just plant them in the ground, but I am very dubious and think we will have to build some raised beds. That area has even less topsoil than the front yard. It definitely does not get much/any direct sunlight for over half the year, but perhaps stuff might do fine.
One of the herbs was catnip. I put the plants right outside the sliding doors to my office and forgot about them. Right before a late night marauding session, piglet immediately found the plant, munched down over half the leaves before I snatched it from her, and then ran off for a little bit of the ultraviolence. I may have to grow the catnip out of her reach until it is vigorous enough to withstand her depredations.
