restaurants plus weekend

One thing we wanted to do this year was to visit new restaurants. OK, maybe that was me and not so much Amanda. I am all for no repeat restaurants this year, but Amanda says “keep old friends, make new ones!” Or something like that; I guess it is an old girl scout round.
Although we are not eating out as much as when we first moved here as 1) it is expensive 2) Amanda is more into the flow of residency and does not need have emergency eating needs 3) eating at home should be healthier 4) cooking is fun 5) I make quite a bit less than what I used to 6) I am sure there are other reasons
Eating out though, though is a big part of our social activity.
Anyways, we had dinner at a Mexican place up on Beacon Hill called El Quetzal sometime last week. It was good and cheap, although it seems more of a bfast/lunch place than a dinner place. Amanda has a large mushroom quesadilla whilst I had sauteed cactus/other stuff on a thick corn/bean bread base (I forget what it was called). They didn’t have beer, though, and I mused why I always like to drink beer while eating Mexican food.
Last Saturday we had dinner with Eve, Karl, and Stacey (a friend of Karl’s from where he grew up in Pennsylvania) at a place in West Seattle called Ovio Bistro. The food was very good. The place was loud. They only have a couple of veggie dishes (pasta) so it is unlikely that it would be high on our list to return. And besides, new restaurants this year.
Amanda made an apple crisp, so we relaxed at Eve’s place afterwards.
As for the weekend, we puttered around the house. Amanda was on call one day. I worked. We ran errands. We fed the ducks at the arboretum. I thought about running again now that it is warming up. Amanda planted bulbs a few months late. I finally made my worm bin, but I still don’t have the worms. I cleaned up the P-Patch plot after all the wintry weather; the kale, broccoli, spinach, and lettuce are still alive… the swiss chard not-so-much. We cleaned the house. I inventoried books. We watched a few movies at home. I drank a lot of tea and port. Amanda continued her love/hate relationship with the piglet. Piglet ate and slept a lot. I chased the crows away from the yard a bunch of times because they were digging up the bulbs; piglet was not on the job. Piglet screamed and demanded food. I picked up a lot of trash on on the road outside our house. blahblahblah
