The wind has been pretty bad recently, and last night was rather crazy. We lost power pretty early, and it just came back on. Apparently over 50% of Seattle Light’s customers are affected… dunno about other places. Amanda called me on her way to work (some nursing home today) that we are lucky our power came back and the wind damage was nuts.
Last night I read by candlelight while Amanda worked on a proposal that was/is due today. Good thing she had a notebook computer, but no internet for her. She ended up dictating some of her changes to a coworker on her cell phone, but then packed it in for the night.
I checked out the house when I woke up, and nothing seems untoward. The place did not seem very effected by the wind, although the vents and exhaust covers rattled a lot. I still have to replace one from the last big wind storm.
I was going to have a big/long meeting with the guys I am working with, but we rescheduled for Monday.
We were able to take showers this morning (Amanda appreciates the water saving showerheads now). Since the fan was out, the humidity shot up rapidly, and the fire alarms (now battery powered) went nuts. They were easily quieted by removing the batteries, but when the power turned back on, I could not shut them up. I had to open all the windows and have a fan turned on full blast at the top detector for quite a while before the alarms behaved.
And piglet peed all around my work desk for some unknown reason. It smells pretty bad right now. Yuk. Good thing she is so lovable otherwise.
