another late weekend recap

08 OCTOBER 2005 : SATURDAY
I slept in. It was very pleasant. Amanda slept in as well, but still got up a few hours before me. She went to yoga and did some cleaning before I dragged my lazy ass out of bed.
We decided to go to downtown Bellevue since we see it all the time from the stairwell in our apartment building. In doing so, we drove across the dreaded Evergreen Point Floating Bridge (520) that goes across Lake Washington. It is basically two lanes each direction; I can see how traffic would be horrendous.
Downtown Bellevue turned out to be pretty non-exciting. It almost had the feel of people deciding that their should be a downtown here, so let’s build one.
We did go to a big commercial area, which basically consisted of a big mall… Bellevue Square. The mall was OK (as far as malls go)… more on the upscale side. Actually, the inside was interesting in that things were not really set up symmetrically and the walkways topology was quite varied. Otherwise, though, it was not worth the trip out as if we wanted to go to such stores, there are closer ones in downtown Seattle; obviously, the place for more for the Eastside residents. It definitely had a much more suburban feel (complete with hordes of young teenagers running about).
I got passed a counterfeit one dollar bill at the World Wraps there. I did not notice until we got home, though. The serial numbers had almost completely faded. I think Amanda passed it off to someone else later.
Work.
09 OCTOBER 2005 : SUNDAY
Our running shoes were shot, so we walked to the Seattle Running Company in Capitol Hill to look for replacements. They were very nice; we got on their treadmill to analyze our strides, and then they brought out lots of shoes for us to try on and run around the block in. The ones I got at least were very nice (or perhaps my old ones were just too shredded).
I did find out when we got home that the model I got is described as follows: “This maximum support shoe is perfect for the larger runner…” … hmmm, is that what the shoe guy thought?
We went out afterwards for a celebratory run around Green Lake… maybe three or so miles. It was a nice run… there were many many people walking/running/whatever around the lake. I had no idea it was that popular.
Work.
10 OCTOBER 2005 : MONDAY
Work. I made granola later.
11 OCTOBER 2005 : TUESDAY
Work. Unlike the past week or so, the weather was gorgeous, so instead of running on the treadmill after working out I ran around Volunteer Park and back.
It was Amanda’s last day of OB/GYN, although in four (or six?) more weeks she will be the night float OB person.
We went to Blue C Sushi for dinner later because we were starving and wanted insta-cheap sushi.
12 OCTOBER 2005 : WEDNESDAY
Work. The weather and cold and rainy again. Amanda just went to sleep. I am making bread and working. I have not really made bread since 2001… Amanda’s first semester in medical school. I had been making it once or twice a week. I had stopped because my wrist and shoulders were killing me (undoubtably for a wide variety of reasons which I eventually broke down and got medical advice for). Anyways, I am sure things will be better now. I am making a couple whole wheat/rolled oats/molasses loaves… my old favorite.
