three-and-a-half days

We will be moving in three-and-a-half days. It still seems a bit unreal to me; I probably will not really realize it until we get to Seattle and the piglet is there.
The past few days have been all about packing and moving and whatnot. Hence no updates, no graduation pictures, and the like. Currently, there is nothing in the house that we are not taking with us in our cars. Everything else is gone (except for an exercise bike). The house is very very empty… as empty as it was last summer when I was only here two days a week. I had a futon then, though.
We had a yard sale last Saturday. As usual, all prices were up for negotiation. I almost felt like selling stuff by weight. Some other thoughts:
– predatory early birds are very annoying. I almost did not want to sell them anything as they were very intent on getting nice stuff for dirt cheap. I would rather just donate it. Amanda just wanted to get rid of things, though.
– weirdly enough, the above mentioned early birds also bought our wood glue of all things
– people loved all the cat toys, and they went quickly
– frames were another popular item
– so were records and prints
– and of course the furniture was the big draw
– someone actually wanted my two very old snow tires
– and 100s of used corks
– basically, people just wanted odd stuff, which was good because we got rid of a lot of stuff
Our neighbor Ben also bought some furniture. We gave him some leftover stuff for free later. It started to rain in the afternoon, but we just put what was left in the car and drove it downtown to donate it. We are holding onto a rug until Saturday so that we have something to sit on.
Andrew (Amanda’s friend from high school) and his girlfriend Emily picked up some furniture we reserved for them later.
And we still have internet. I will return the cable modem Friday.
We have been eating out all the time because our kitchen stuff has been packed away (and was sent out today). I wanted to hit a lot of favorite restaurants before I left, but that will not really happen (the chinese buffet unfortunately has been popular because it is fast). There were a lot of things I wanted to do before heading out, but there has been no time, so I suppose my memory will have to suffice.
We are leaving a day early on Saturday after the piglet gets her vet checkup. The good thing about that is we will not have such an outrageous first day driving; we will just stop in Wooster to pick up Amanda’s parents. I will also get to leave Ithaca in the daylight, which will be nice. Maybe I can check out my last Ithaca Festival on the Commons on the way out of town. And have a felafel pita for lunch. I think it will feel odd driving down 79W out of Ithaca and Not Come Back.
