- weather: wet, overcast, kinda rainy. pretty much like ithaca really. apparently, it does not get very cold here tho. snow is minimal, but happens.
- i have never seen so many coffee shops and stands.
- i do not see many chain stores in seattle itself. starbucks is the exception; there are a bunch of those.
- the architecture is a bit random. there is not a whole lot of continuity in the buildings or houses.
- traffic downtown is surprisingly mild. i suppose i5 and the burbs are probably more traffic infested.
- the people density is not what i expected. that is, there are fewer people about than i would expect in a city. nice in a different way than nyc or san fran.
- lots of running about in the backcountry possibilities very near seattle.
- thai restaurants are everywhere.
- reasonable diversity in the city… seems much less so away from it. people seem friendly enough.
- drivers are very friendly and accomondating. i am continuously amazed on how awful buffalo drivers are. tho perhaps that could be generalized to all of new york.
- public transit seems ok. lots of people walking and bicycling.
- haven’t seen the burbs really, but they definitely exist.
- cost of living looks to be on the expensive side, but it is a city after all. burbs seem more expensive.
