time for a weekly recap before the next weekend arrives, although i did write this out a few days ago, but had a browser failure before it could post….
friday: i went up to buffalo early in the afternoon because amanda is working all weekend. so was lainie. all of us had dinner at a soup and sandwich place, the globe, down the block from lainie’s apartment. it was quite tasty. amanda and lainie were gonig to get coffee at another place closeby, but we were shocked when we saw that it had burned down. amanda found out later that the place had been getting phone calls threatening “i’m gonna burn your place down” and i guess he or she went through with the threat. the local tv station was there, undoubtably to report on the situation.
lainie had the night shift, so she went off to work. amanda and i stopped off at the lexington avenue coop for random stuff, stopped at tim hortons for coffee for lainie, and then went back to the apartment and did a whole lot of nothing. i could not figure out how to get lainie’s cable working, so no mindless tv for us. instead we evilly piggybacked on some unknown neighbors wireless network and surfed and whatnot. amanda made a carrot cake; it was quite tasty.
saturday: lainie arrived home in the morning just as amanda was leaving for her emergency room shift. she showed me how to get the cable working (i had thought one of the remotes was busted, but it was just erractic) and promply went to sleep. i spent the rest of the day alternately working and reading random magazines.
lainie eventually got up and worked on her resume/cv for a while, and i gave my input on it as well. she had another night shift, so off she went. amanda did not return until around 830pm. she had a bad day, so we went to el canelos for dinner. we watched iron chef and the blues brothers when we got back.
sunday: amanda had a night shift, so she slept in. i idly worked and read magazines again. amanda got up a bit after noon, and we went to ihop for brunch… amanda had bfast and i had lunch. clearly, not actually having a place to live in buffalo is drastically increasing our ending out. we idly walked about the boulevard mall, got some small items at the body shop, and then went to wegmans for random supplies. lainie was up when we got home. we tried to go back to the globe for dininer, and just got in before they closed at 6pm. i was not hungry, but amanda and lainie got dinner to go. both lainie and amanda were working that night, so they went off to work, and i drove back home to brooktondale.
monday: work. amanda decided to bail on her emergency medicine rotation because she has much to do and needs a break; she drove back home in the evening. she will finish the rotation sometime in march.
tuesday: work.
wednesday: work. we saw the lunar eclipse!
thursday: work. my gosh, the weekdays are kinda boring, eh?
friday: work. amanda and i will be traveling up to buffalo for family weekend at the medical school. amanda tried to see dr. kuntz, our primary care guy, but he apparently was out, and they could not get a hold of us to cancel the appointment. she is undoubtably running errands now and/or packing for the weekend; she will be heading off to philly to take some medical board test and interview at a place down there. time for more work…
