after last minute cleaning and packing, we finally made it out of our old apartment last friday. i had mega problems getting piglet to take her sedative. the wily one would hide the pill in her mouth somewhere for the many minutes i held her mouth closed and rubbed her throat, act kinda like it was gone, and then spit it out a few minutes later when she thought i was not looking. however, after many attempts, she eventually digested enough medicine (the stuff that dissolved in her mouth) to be slightly altered. before leaving, she attempted to jump up to one of the windows, but she only jumped half the height she wanted and was left hanging from the window with her forepaws. it was a admittedly comical sight. when amanda came home, she grabbed the piglet, threw the rest of her pill down her throat, and magically got her to swallow it through her force of will. i guess being a medical professional has crossover veterinary advantages.
it was a good thing that i came up because both of our cars were packed with stuff.
piglet drove with amanda and apparently was all cries and screaming during the drive down. good thing we drugged her or it would have gotten really unpleasant.
once at the house, piglet was freaked out for only a few minutes, and spent only a little time skulking about and running under furniture. she adjusted very quickly, more quickly than i would have thought, and then amused herself exploring the new house. amanda said that piglet must have been thinking: “oh, so this is where everything went.” the disobedient one later climbed up one of our many precarious stacks of boxes and almost got herself trapped behind our water heater structures, but swift instincts saved her when the stuff she had been standing on came crashing down.
the weekend was mostly unpacking and organizing. our lofted bedroom area and main room are kinda in their final forms, but there is still much to unpack and much of get rid of. amanda did an incredible job unpacking and organizing our kitchen stuff; we are donating a lot of stuff because we just have too much stuff especially now that we have recombined our two households. three the goldfish has got another blood infection, so we are treating him again (or perhaps it is the same one). we are undecided on what to do with our fish because we have too many fishtanks. we were going to get rid of the 30 gallon one with its stand, but i put all of our tropical fish in it when i moved them, and they definitely look happy and cool in the longer tank. we also continuously did laundry as everything is dirty. there is still much to be washed.
i am fending off the superiors at work because i am (still) behind on things, so i worked intermittedly on sunday, and later went to work that night after amanda took off for buffalo.
now, its back to the grindstone. i just ordered cable internet for our new house because i want it, and is not that a good enough reason. i do not know what i will do at the house tonight (well, more laundry), but i am sure something will happen. piglet has been very good and has not peed on anything yet. hopefully she will continue to behave.
