i visited the dump this morning to get rid of some excess stuff and to clear out the new house a bit. i had visions of my move out of my old house on wood street when i went continously to the dump and recyling center for weeks, but this trip was not so bad.
ithaca has changed quite a bit since i last looked about. although i have been working in ithaca, i basically just go to work, so i do not really see any changes. ithaca’s many point traffic plan is in full swing… there is a new traffic circle south of town, 13 is still under construction after all this time, a home depot has opened up, chili’s has opened up, there is a freaking huge building in the one woolworth’s parking lot, and basically the flats south of town will be turning into a huge bigbox commercial center. crazy. unlike the vocal minority(majority?) of ithaca, i actually do not mind this transformation; i wish it occurred earlier in my time here as it does not matter much to me now.
i dropped by the new home depot and got some caulk for the new place. magically, the ant problem has gotten much better, and only a couple ants drop from the ceiling each day. a combinations of my last ant poison injection plus the cold weather probably did the trick. i would not care much about this normally, but they are dropping where we want to put our bed, so even one is no good. caulking the cracks where they fall should deal with the falling problem.
i drove by the budget rental place, and it looks like someone has taken our 15foot truck away already.
the fish do not really seem all that happy, but that is not surprising. i had to dump them unceremoniously into their new tanks, which is really not a good thing to do. i felt bad about that, as i wanted to give them the best chance of living (which is why i bought them large transport things to move them). hopefully they will all survive. goldfish three is still out of sorts, and the angelfish are definitely not right. the others seem relatively fine, tho.
i will have to do more cleaning and organizing tonight before we retrieve the piglet this weekend.
