thursday: i had the usual not-worth-talking-about day at work. well, actually, we had fun get vishal’s car started. he left it in the parking lot when he left for san francisco, and next week the moving company is finally going to come and pick it up. however, becky could not get it started on thursday, and since the hood and various cracks had already been taped up of for the journey, jumping it was not an attractive option. so a bunch of us just went down and kept pushing until the car started. we left it running for a while (and perhaps traian took it for a spin) to charge the battery a bit. ok, maybe it wasn’t all that much fun.
lainie and erika were at home when i arrived back in buffalo. we had a nice dinner of potato and leek soup and sauteed carrots.
friday: amanda wanted to develop an online survey to send out shortly once she got back from work, so she concentrated on that until technical difficulties arose that we did not have time to look at immediately cropped up. later, we went out to dinner with lainie at blu (where the old osaka used to be which later moved somewhere else and became the “o” restaurant). we wanted to go to toro, but were dissuaded by the long wait.
i had not been to the new incarnation of blu, but aside from a few decorative changes, it looked just like osaka and o. in fact, the menu was almost exactly like the o restaurant. it’s even written in the same font. anyways, the food itself was good. amanda liked it better than the o, but i must say that i prefer the o simply because of the better service (since the prices on the menu are the same as well). tho, blu has these special shashimi plates that were very nice and has more interesting vegetarian dishes, so it has that edge. blu is also significantly less crowded, so maybe i actually perfer blu. perhaps the short time we have left in buffalo will tell which is better.
we stopped by the dairy queen for dessert. mm, tasty.
saturday: we had lunch at el canelos with karen and carlos. we lazed about that afternoon, idly talking with erik who is moving away with moose-dog today or tomorrow. we managed to get some exercise before having dinner with karen and carlos. they made a nice veggie pizza while we contributed a salad and wine to the evening. we also watched my big fat greek wedding with them. afterwards in our apartment, we watched another movie, once a thief (the orginal version). amanda found it very odd, but i thought it was interesting.
sunday: continuing our bad decadent eating out theme of the weekend, we walked to the lake effect diner for brunch. actually, amanda had bfast and i had lunch. we then ran some errands and shopped for clothes for amanda. my back was killing me for some reason, so i did not do much walking about until the naproxen sodium that we got at target took effect. we then decided that to go to goat island (part of niagara falls state park) for a bit of a picnic, so we bummed around there during the afternoon. now, amanda is doing yoga; i should start again, too, but now i must finish posting pictures of today’s adventures in the picture gallery.
