we went on a hike with lainie to letchworth state park. it was much farther away than we had anticipated (2+ hours as opposed to 1+ hours), but it was a nice day for driving and a nice day for hiking. the park has quite an impressive gorge/canyon running through it. my consumption pre and post hike consisted of four apple pies from mcdonalds and one serving of mozarella sticks. fortunately, i may have actually burned off all of them on the hike if my average gym-calculated caloric expenditure per hour is correct.
eventually, we made it back home. karen asked us if we wanted to go to a random casino with carlos parents (as they are visiting and wanted to see what one was like), but we were a bit too wiped out by the hike and drive. carlos apparently was going to try to win an engagement ring or somesuch (which seems kinda unlikely to me since casinos do not try to just hand out money).
we went to an el canelos restaurant with lainie for dinner. it was exactly like the el canelos in wooster … same menu, same kinda cheesy decorations, etc. . the food was the same as well. according to the menu, it seems like there are seven or so restaurants in ohio, pennsylvania, and western new york. the prices seemed slightly higher, but the food was still very inexpensive. the dish that i normally get, “las rancheritas” was the same as in wooster except that it comes with sides of refried beans and spanish rice; i would get the rice separately in wooster. the extra sides were accounted for in the higher price, tho. i got some jalepeno poppers, too, and they were quite tasty. laine and amanda got “vegetarian combination d”, i think, but i am not sure what it consisted of.
we stopped by target on the way back and got random cleaning supplies; lainie also went wok shopping. we dropped off lainie at her apartment, and now amanda is asleep on the sofa. i did not lift today, but at least i got a lot of exercise hiking. i have decided more violent exercise is called for in the coming months. now that the weather is better i have no excuse (or no good excuse anyway).
