amanda is here in ithaca. she has not been here since our wedding celebration last july… pretty crazy. when she drove up to my workplace yesterday, she had weird flashbacks to earlier this summer when she was studying for the medical boards.
we went out for a quick bite to eat at maxie’s, and then we left to take a look at the house i saw in brooktondale the other day. amanda was excited about the house, so we definitely will end up taking it. hopefully, the paperwork will be done sometime next week. perhaps one minus about the house is that our cell phones will not work there. there is barely enough signal to register voice mail and the like. apparently, there are pockets of signal if one walks around outside, which is kinda funny, but while this one issue is a bit annoying, the rest of the place is really quite nice.
we then headed back into ithaca to get dessert and drinks at madelines. one good thing that has been happening at work is that i actually got a raise (albeit minor) and a significant bonus for the first time in three+ years. i will need the money for all the eating out i have been doing and will do in the near future; i will be taking people out to eat who have been riffed/redeployed/layedoff recently here at work.
we saw traian walking back home as he lives downtown. he was at a bar talking with a bartender he has some nebulous relationship with. she is his “muse”, says vishal.
we went back to the apartment, and talked with vishal for quite a while. then it was time for bed.
now, i am at work, and amanda is downtown at wownet studying, looking at residency programs, and doing paid research. perhaps we shall live large on the town (i always loved that phrase) tonight. tomorrow we shall head back home to buffalo and our piglet.
