poor fishes

our poor goldfish have the ick or some other parasitic infection. perhaps it is not surprising given the stress of the three hour trip up here and living in the new tank and all. they are being treated now, and i am hopeful they will make a complete recovery (it’s the third time they’ve had it after all).
yesterday, other than the usual work, lainie came over for dinner; we had a rice noodle dish with tofu and vegetables. very good and very good for you. amanda and lainie were going to exercise, but both were too wasted from long days at work and passed out while we were watching a dvd on everest and the effects of altitude on the body. i spent the rest of the evening fooling around with the wireless router john gave me; i acquired a wireless network card for amanda’s notebook, so she can surf anywhere in the building (or in many cafes around here).
today was amanda’s and lainie’s “cheat” day on their body-for-life program. one day a week they get to not exercise and eat whatever and whenever they want. we had bfast at the ihop where they scarfed down eggs, hashbrowns, meat items for lainie, and unlimited pancakes for amanda. erika joined us for bfast as well.
amanda and lainie went off to barnes and noble to study (apparently they ate more junk food there as well), while i went off to run errands (get fish stuff, replace our printer, go to post office, lift, etc. etc. etc.). erika went off to go see a play with her mom.
carlos and karen are apparently going to get a doggie, but i do not think they have one yet. i guess they will probably get one from the spca in kenmore.
i found out the fishes had the ick in the evening, so i went off to get medicines before the stores closed. we then had yet another bad-for-you dinner at a restaurant/bar in allentown (basically an area just north of downtown buffalo). it had the typical bar food… lainie got buffalo wings.
even tho it was a cheat day, amanda and lainie could not really eat all that much. it was too much effort for them to pig out. perhaps the diet part of the plan is working. i think they have been more erractic on the exercise part, but as the body-for-life guy says: “progress, not perfection.”
amanda has passed out again… she has to work tomorrow.
