we interrupt the holiday recaps (which i may have to force myself to become less verbose so that i can actually finish them) to, like, write about what’s happening now.
well, not a whole lot actually. amanda is asleep. erika came over and she is asleep as well. the piglet is awake, however, after sleeping most of the day.
we took our little one to the vet for a checkup and some shots. we were kinda bad parents because we should have taken her six months ago, but since she does not go out during the winter, some of the shots were not necessary immediately.
she was very unhappy during the ride down and predictably lost control of her bladder while sitting on amanda’s lap. we were going to put her in her kitty karrier, but it mysteriously vanished, so amanda just wrapped her up in a blanket. she was pronounced healthy at the clinic (if overweight) and received two shots (distemper and feline leukemia) that she did not appreciate. we will also send them a urine sample to see if we have to adjust her diet as she has been on prescription cat food for many vears to help with urinary crystals. amanda was annoyed at all the overweight vet and vet helper persons commenting on how fat the piglet was, but it was pleasant overall for the humans, but not for our piglet one.
when she got home she was none the worse for wear and did not hate us too much.
we ran a lot of errands… lunch, verizon wireless questions about changing my phone number and merging our contracts, cable tv questions as we may get rid of it, random looking for clothing for amanda, random looking for trash cans, yadda yadda yadda. amanda did end up buying more work clothes.
i also bought an olympic bench/rack and weight set at galyan’s. my gym memberships is about to run out and since it is quite expensive even with my work subsidy (esp. since i cannot get the family discount as amanda did not renew hers), i probably will not renew, at least for a while. i can do the basic stuff with my new freeweights with the exception of upper back stuff (i. e. pull up/pulldown motions), but i will see what i can do about that. i also will have to run outside (gasp) to get my cardio workout. admittedly, that will be kinda painful now that it is zero degrees outside, but it should not remain that way.
i put together all the stuff in the basement. there is just enough room for it. the ceiling is a bit low which precludes some things i wanted to do, but its not that big a deal. i will probably get some more plates and dumbells as i figure out my new training schedule. and even then, it will all be cheaper than the gym, and i will have the stuff! one can’t beat the equipment at a gym, but having stuff at home is oh so convenient.
shockingly, i have not lost all that much strength over the past four or so weeks that i did not lift regularly (or at all, really). i did do a lot of pushups and crunches, tho, and just doing those had a great effect. unfortunately, i haven’t done any cardio work for weeks, so the next time i run… maybe tomorrow… things are bound to be painful. i have done a lot of dance dance revolution tho!
it’s late, but i am not that tired. maybe i’ll do some work; that’s will put me to sleep fast enough.
