we had a wine and cheese party type thing saturday. it was fun; we got to see some people that we have not run into in a while due to everyone’s crazy life schedule. i made some smoked gouda/porcini/sweet wine bread appetizer things and one of my unlimited variations of stuffed mushrooms. amanda made a bunch of dessert type things, and, of course, there was lots of wine and cheese and fruit (obtained by us and some of the party goers). superlative.
of course, the party ate up the rest of our discretionary budgets this month, but it looks like we are in good shape for september (i.e. we are both under budget). amanda magnanimously accepted most of the party expenditure under her budget since it was her idea, and i was lacking in budget since i had just bought a lotto subscription that i could not call an “investment” with a straight face (it’s in an “Entertainment:Lottery” category for you quicken users) as i did not realize a party was in the offing. ah, yes, the lottery, my big retirement plan.
sunday was another day that i really don’t know what happened. i guess i slept late since our last party guests left early in the morning, and then i cleaned up before going to bed. amanda actually got up early (well, earlier than i) to finish up cleaning while i dozed. actually, now that i think about it, amanda and i just relaxed at home all day. shocking, i know.
we watched ghost dog that evening. i love the movie (i have seen it before), but amanda thought it was “too wierd.”
today was full of work as usual. amanda started her new surgery rotation at the children’s hospital. i did my usual monday crap (work, gym, laundry, cleaning… well, i skipped the monday cleaning this week because of party cleaning).
erika came over this evening because she needed to make a presentation using powerpoint, and she does not have it on her computer. she actually can get office xp for free since she is associated with the university as a “faculty” member (seems kinda odd for a medical resident), but she never gets around to getting it, so she just came over and did it on amanda’s computer.
time to go to bed; its another 5am day for both of us (amanda has already been asleep for a while).
