the weekend was very low key. amanda had both days off, and we spent the time mostly catching up on our sleeping. amanda is in the middle of doing her surgical subspecialties, and they apparently are much more relaxed than general surgery/trauma.
as a matter of fact, she just walked in… there were no scheduled surgeries, so they told her to come back tomorrow (she’s doing anesthesiology now at roswell).
friday, we had a back-to-our-youth moment when amanda, erika, and i went to play putt-putt golf. i thought it was fun, but the place was overrun with prepubescent kids. there was even some radio teenager promotion thing going on, so there were gobs of ’em hanging about and living the typical angst-filled teenage existence. erika and i were hoping that wasn’t our existence in the past whilst amanda probably did not indulge in putt putt in her youth. we continued the junior/high school theme by stopping at dairy queen for a snack, stopping at the bkwik for wine coolers, and then hung out at our apartment. i didn’t even know wine coolers were still sold, but there were considerably less varieties than i recall in the 80s. the wine coolers were a little too weird for me and amanda, but apparently erika thought they were tasty.
we had our traditional weekend brunch at solid grounds with erika on saturday (which apparently has replaced our previous bfast at amy’s place). amanda and i then proceeded to pass out for multiple hours, so there went that day. tho to be accurate, i passed out for most of the time whilst amanda puttered about. various people (erika, nathan, his new wife abbey, dan) came over later to hang out, play some random board games, and watch movies (the mummy returns). abbey just moved from palestine, and she and nathan were telling us of life in general there (the discussion of which was broken up from time to time with the usual medical talk between amanda, nathan, and erika). only dan and i ended up watching the mummy returns as nathan and his wife took their leave, and amanda and erika fell asleep.
sunday was another lazy day. we were going to go up to ikea in canada with dan and ericka, but that didn’t happen. instead we had another lazy day. we stopped by the galleria to get amanda some onsale stuff at victoria’s secret. amanda convinced target to accept a return of a printer cartridge that we did not have the receipt and exchanged it for a cd clock radio. when we got back, amanda was the one to pass out for hours on end whilst i puttered about doing some lifting and watching football on tv. we later decided to hang out at delaware park; amanda went inline skating whilst i just ran. erika came dropped by that evening and we watched another movie: identity. it turned out to be an interesting movie, but the start kinda dragged on a bit too long for me.
now, of course, it is another workday. amanda is studying surgical stuff whilst i am taking a break from quashing bugs to write this entry. oh, well, back to the grind…
