it had been a while since i had driven our subaru. it still is pretty filthy from the move and all the trips to the dump. we haven’t touched it since i finished moving to the new apartment. of course, it looks like i managed to leave the lights on, and the battery was completely hosed. it was easy enough to jump start it tho.
all the breaks and rotors are completely covered in a layer of rust, even the new ones. i guess that what happens when you don’t drive and it rains practically ever day for over two weeks. i briefly thought about cleaning the brakes off before driving to work, but then decided, what the hell. it look a while for the brakes and the rest of the car to get back into the swing of things, but by the time i got to work most of the weird rattling, whines, and assorted noises went away.
amanda (who found out the subaru was dead yesterday), also found out that there is a sticker near the battery that says you must use the remote control after jumpstarting and/or replacing the battery to turn off the warning lights. i don’t know why those dorks at midas didn’t just tell me that (although we speculated that that must be done) last month. well, at least i had the excuse that it was pretty dark when i picked the car, so i couldn’t see the sticker.
