piglet does not seem to wander far from our apartment. in our previous house and our apartment in buffalo, once she gets outside she could be anywhere. i orginally thought that since the new place has many natural borders (gorge, road, steep incline to neighboring property), she did not feel the need to wander very far.
now i believe she sticks close to home in order to defend our home from other cats and assorted undesireables! there are four cats in the apartments above us that piglet glares at when she is outside. they are not outside cats tho. there is also a male orange tabby in the building who does wander about.
since we also keep the basement window open so piglet can come and go as she chooses, any feline or other animal can also enter. we always let her in and out ourselves in previous homes. the orange cat tends to poke his head in the window and hiss at the piglet when we are all inside, which is not very neighborly of him. he gets along fine with us, but unfortunately, the piglet is not pleased with his presense or if we give him attention outside whilst ignoring her.
so, while we are gone, now piglet simply hangs about outside or inside the window, patrols the outside of the small apartment building, and sleeps (can’t leave out the sleeping). amanda is happy that she is being kept busy and amused far away from the road.
