i am here in buffalo for perhaps the last time in a while. amanda’s last endocrine exam is next monday, and then we are taking the piglet and going back to ithaca for the next couple of months. i was thinking as i passed the glass factory in geneva that living with amanda in ithaca would be like summer camp. we’ll be living in a new place with a roommate, ithaca’s weather will (hopefully) be nice, perhaps ithaca will be its usual lazy self in the summer, and really, ithaca is neither of our homes right now. buffalo is now my home… as i spend most of my time there, amanda is there, piglet is there, and the first place we moved to where we planned to live together from the start is there. i had lived in my previous house for years before i met amanda, and i had not started telecommuting in her first year in buffalo (where she lived three different places).
its weird thinking ithaca is not really my home anymore. i have lived there fifteen years now after all. all of ithaca seems more like my workplace now; i don’t do much there except go to work and sleep for two nights a week.
