on the way back from ohio, i wanted to stop by borders to look for the movie “animals are beautiful people“. unfortunately, it had closed due to the christian holiday (as did all the malls, the gym, and amy’s place…the diner where we were going to eat dinner). while i was not really surprised, it still annoyed the hell out of me.
we eventually ate the the lake effect diner, which opened up on main street late last year. it is a completely renovated diner from 1952 in Wayne, PA, that someone transported up here complete with many of the original fixtures. a review that i had read of it called it “a throwback to a different era–lots of stainless steel, pink & lime green.” our waiter was dressed the part, but his accent seemed a bit discongruous with his surroundings. i could not identify where he was from however.
amanda had a veggie burger and fries plus a chocalate milk shake. she wasn’t hungry for her dinner after slurping down most of the shake before hand. i had a salad and some macaroni and cheese. all the food was good and reasonably priced.
