2010.02.02 : TUESDAY
The Kai and I had appointments with our new PCP Sara Waterman in the Pac-Med building (where Amazon’s HQ is currently located). Amanda had already seen her before, but I had not. We had to switch from Group Health because our insurance had changed; we are now under Premera Blue Cross. Unfortunate, because I really liked Group Health and our old PCP.
Susan stayed at home while Amanda and my Mom went with us.
The Kai was up first, basically for his two year well child check. He was well as expected. Amanda left at this point to walk down to the SIHB for work.
I basically had a physical/intro discussion. I went over my medical history, blah blah blah. I also got her to refill a script had before. And I finally got a prescription for sumatriptan, which is a drug used to treat migraines. I had always meant to get one before, but I always just used ibuprofen and sleep (which I believe is the best evidence-based method for treating a migraine). Also, sumatriptan only became generic in 2009, and previously cost something like $170 a pill or something crazy like that. While I haven’t had a full blown attack in a couple of years (with nausea and light sensitivity), it will be handy to have around and see if it works.
Back home, Susan picked up some groceries from Safeway as we did not have a lot of staples around.
In the evening, Mike and Connor came over and dropped off some extra food from the party. They also brought at gift for Lonan Kai! And they gave us a big wicker basket.
2010.02.03 : WEDNESDAY
There was a zoo expedition again after an early breakfast at Geraldine’s Counter. My mom went with the Kai to the zoo while Amanda and Susan went off on other adventures (mainly to allow my mom to have quality time with the Kai without him velco-ing himself to Amanda).
My mom left on a redeye back to the east coast in the evening. As it turned out, Amanda’s mom was coming in, so I dropped my mom off at the airport and picked up Amanda’s mom at the same time. They met for about thirty seconds in front of United’s arrival area.
2010.02.04 : THURSDAY
Susan left for Tennessee after bfast, so now we are done to one guest. Amanda’s mom will be here for a couple of weeks.
