hot

It is pretty hot right now. And has been for the past few days (and the previous week, but we were on vacation). We will probably hit triple digits today. In some ways it is not so bad as it is a bit humid, but not on the outrageously humid scale Virginia and the South in general get (and even upstate New York). I don’t feel like I am swimming through the air here.
Of course, it is still very hot. I am sweating profusely typing this entry out. I was going to go downtown and take refuge someplace with air conditioning; I think I will definitely do that tomorrow. Normally we would take Lonan Kai out of daycare early today and go to the farmer’s market, but Amanda and I may just leave him there all day so he will be cooler.
Mr. Kai has been able to sleep soundly though even in the heat. Which is good… another year we don’t need to get an air conditioner.
Monday we spent a lot of time cleaning… finishing up from out trip as well as doing a massive reorganization of the garage. Now theoretically we can park the car in the garage again as long as the scooter (which is still nonfunctional) is somewhere else.
We had a bread and cheese and wine and green bean and vanilla ice cream (called “eye-p!” by Mr. Kai) and berries for dinner because it was too hot to really cook.
Yesterday I took Lonan Kai to Group Health to get his eyes checked out again. It was just a followup appointment to verify his eyes were not crossing. It went well. He was amused with the fishtank in the waiting room as well as the TV showing cartoons. He does not get to watch TV here at home.
There were a lot of people hanging out in the air conditioning after their appointments. Funny.
Since we were up on Capitol Hill I took Mr. Kai to the wading pool at Volunteer Park. There were quite a few people there, but not as many as I would have thought given the temperature. Mr. Kai had a great time and would have stayed forever had we not had to go and pick up Amanda from work.
It was still hot to cook, but we made fajitas anyway because they were quick.
Time for some telephone calls, house chores, and sticking my head in the freezer.

And here in Ohio, we have had probably one of the coolest July’s on record. Thank God since my A/C is still not fixed after almost 6 weeks.
Lonan looked so cute in the picture you sent me. He looked like he was loving the water.
