09 JAN 2007 : SATURDAY
Amanda and I went to the gym early. I did my usual stuff while Amanda had a personal training session with Kristen (training is free at our gym). Amanda was very tired afterwards and unhappy that she was “downgraded” on several balance exercises.
After we got back home, Amanda went off grocery shopping with Mandy. I had lunch with my old friend/former coworker Larry. We walked down to Columbia City and ate at Geraldine’s Counter. We then walked back home and then down to the lake. Larry’s son is graduating from high school, and it was prom night. Crazy.
After Larry left, Amanda and I did a lot of painting. When we painted the lower staircase, we had been running low on paint, so it went on a bit thin. And I also spilled wine on a section a while back while trying to avoid a hidden piglet while I was barreling down the stairs. It looks much nicer now. We also repainted the upstairs hallway a different color. It was previously a reddish color like the downstairs, but it was a bit too similar our other bedroom’s paint job, so Amanda desired a change. It is now a yellowish-brown-grain color. I think it looks nicer now as well.
Once we get our builders to fix a bunch of cracks in the upper stairwell, we will paint it the same color. It is currently a pale yellow… the original paint that the builders used.
We may also planted the rest of the garden later (but that may have also happened on Friday). We planted tomatoes, cucumbers, and beans. We covered the beans with netting because the package said they are a favorite of birds.
We had to go to Urgent Care on Capitol Hill, for like, urgent care. Amanda had been having right lower quadrant pain for a while, and it had gotten worse. “4 out of 10” she said. She did not think it was appendicitis. Nothing was resolved, but she may got for a ultrasound later.
10 JUN 2007 : SUNDAY
We went to Tukwila/Renton for more errand running. Ikea, Target, Sears (more replacement jeans), etc. I saw a really tall amazonian woman at Ikea.
11 JUN 2007 : MONDAY
Amanda made bfast. She has Monday and Tuesday off. She decided to go for a ultrasound, so she had to drink an immediate 32 oz. of water and not go to the bathroom. “I was dying” says she in reference to all the fluids.
We had lunch. We went off for more errands. We went to REI to get some replacement bicycle things for Amanda. We went to a frame store to get another mat for a picture of Natalie’s and to replace the glass on my diploma frame (it cracked during out last move). We went to the library in Columbia City to pick up some reserve books and to look around. We went to the Post Office.
Back at home, we dug up a bit of the front yard to see what kind of water feature we could put in. As expected, we only have a few inches of soil before we hit a lot of nasty fill, so it would be a supreme pain in the ass to do much digging (no pond!). We went off to a pond store in SODO/Georgetown to consider options, and came back with a little 15 gallon plastic container that we will put in the ground tomorrow. We will probably put in a pump to power a little burbly thing, too.
Amanda went swimming, but I had been feeling out-of-sorts so I did not go to the gym as originally planned.
Now, Amanda is lying on the couch reading. I am sitting on the floor typing this entry into her notebook computer. Piglet is off somewhere being grumpy.
