Life has been unsettled the past week. Amanda is back in town from an emergency. Piglet seems better from her UTI, but I had a follow up appointment this morning, and I had to leave her at the clinic because they could not “palpate” enough urine out of her (the vet at the emergency clinic used the term “manually expressed”). She definitely is not happy, especially after the 55 minute trip to the clinic, two vaccinations, and now she is in a kennel. The house is sad and empty without the little one.
The vet was funny, though, as after he gave her her shots, he said “I’ll let the nurses get your urine sample so that we can remain friends.”
There were very unhappy yowls and screams coming from the back of the clinic. I had thought that piglet was one of them, but I think it was another cat there whom they were forcing to ingest charcoal because of some poison thing. Just like humans. I was stressed out listening to all the unhappy felines.
Amanda started inpatient medicine at Harborview yesterday. She commented last night about how she is a superdoctor compared to how she was last year.
Last Saturday while Amanda was out of town (I had to stay in town to watch the piglet and medicate her), I went out to celebrate Karl’s 34th birthday. We just met up at Taste of India in Roosevelt with a few other people. I had not had Indian food in a long time since Amanda had lost her appetite for it after her month long sojourn in the Himalayas. We then relaxed at a bar in Ballard, Copper Gate. It was a nice place. The bar was in the shape of a ships prow. And they were old pictures and paintings of nude women everywhere. Tastefully, though perhaps I should ask Amanda’s opinion.
Eve and Karl bought a house in West Seattle while we were on vacation. Crazy. Although we bought our townhouse suddenly as well; we just had to wait for it to be completely built. I have not seen it yet, but they had the inspection the other day and are closing in a couple of weeks.
Otherwise, I have been knocking out a bunch of things off the todo list (currently at 67 items and growing, although I don’t have everything listed). Recapping our vacation and posting pictures is on there. My current contract gig is on hold right now as my client is in meetings all the time now trying to get more funding (which does look promising). Hopefully he is also getting around to paying me soon.
