turkish dinner

We had dinner at Ephesus, a Turkish restaurant in West Seattle with Christy Wednesday night. It was good, although it seemed more Mediterranean-like, but maybe the really meaty stuff that we didn’t get was more Turkish. Both Christy and I had just been running, so we were both famished. Their hummus and fresh pita/flatbread was very very good, as was a butter and lemon mushroom thing we also had as an appetizer. Amanda then got a large salad, while Christy and I opted for whatever fresh fish available charred and baked in a clay pot with pilaf and vegetables.
I thought they were goning to bring the pots out to the table, but evidently it was just used in the preparation. The fish, which turned out of be salmon, was definitely very tasty, and the pilaf and veggies were perfectly cooked. The dish’s only real problem was that it was not very exciting: fish/starch/veggies… a bit of a yawner. Everything tasted great, though. Desserts were good, too.
Service was a bit leisurely, but I think that it was mainly due to the fact our fish took a bit to cook. They also took an outrageously long time to give us back our credit receipt, but they said they were having telecommunication problems. It wasn’t a big deal because we were just relaxing and talking anyway.
We also saw Christy’s new house. It is quite nice. It’s on a corner lot with very nice landscaping; the previous owner was a landscape architect. The actual house on the small side… 800sf maybe, but cool for one person. I made friends with her cat Fritz.
Christy is training for a marathon in May, so she has been running far more than I. A lot more. So much more there isn’t really a comparison. However, I am clawing my way back into shape. Trying anyway.
