Amanda’s trailermate Alana from Zuni was in Seattle for a couple of days for residency interviews. She was looking more at the type of family medicine residency where one does “everything” (I am sure there is some technical term for it) rather than a larger more academic residency like Amanda is in. She seemed to like Seattle well enough, but it looked like the weather was not exactly to her liking. She has spent most (all?) of her life in New Mexico and clearly enjoys the sun. It was obvious that she was not from around here as she had that “healthy” coloring about her rather than the more pasty washed out look people around here have.
She managed to make it to Tacoma last night where she has another interview before the storm got too outrageous.
We had dinner with Eve at Tutta Bella in Columbia City last night before the Rainier Valley lost power. It was cool to see Eve, although she seems nonenthused about her job right now. Amanda finished up the knit hat for her, and I convinced her that the cat ears are a vital accessory, so Amanda took it back to knit the ears on. Carl (Karl? I have to find out how to spell his name) was going to be at dinner, too, but weather related traffic caused him to bail.
Our townhouse neighbors are having a holiday party tonight (dinner, dessert, and drinks at three different places). It should be fun. I need to figure out what to make to share for dinner. We can also bring some of the magnums of wine we have left over from our wine-and-cheese a while ago.
