23 SEP 2006 : SATURDAY
Amanda went in for children’s clinic; Haborview’s clinic is only for children on Saturdays. I gather it is easier for them to get in then, although it seems that may be true for, like, adults as well. She was only supposed to be gone for the morning, but ended up being gone for the whole day.
There was a break in the rain finally, so we took the opportunity to plant our winter peas. I did not want to think about them too much, so we just planted them in a grid. We can decided where to put trellising later when we see what comes up.
We had dinner at Eve’s. Her perhaps new boyfriend Karl (Carl?) was also there, as was Nancy, a Harborview pharmacy resident. It was fun.
New fact learned: Harborview keeps leeches on hand at all times. I did not realize their use was that prevelant.
24 SEP 2006 : SUNDAY
We went on a bicycle ride up to the University (well, a short ride anyway). We went to their waterfront activities center, rented a canoe, and paddled about Washington Park. Our paddling coordination was much better than last year. There were many waterfowl about.
We stopped by City People’s to get some cover crops for the children’s plot in our P-Patch. They did not have any clover, so we just got some fava beans.
I am sure something cool happened later, but I don’t remember. Natalie said during her visit that my memory was noticeably not as sharp as it once was, and she was not really joking. Yikes. I have started taking ginkgo supplements again (I did for years in the 90s) in spite of the fact there is no evidence it does anything as Amanda would say.
