06 AUG 2006 : SUNDAY (yesterday)

Amanda had a day off yesterday. We walked to Columbia City and had bfast at Geraldine’s Counter. We thought about going for a bike ride, but Amanda decided to stay home and paint. We painted the lower stairwell the same color as the top floor hallway. It looks nice, although we ran out of paint and there are thin spots in the middle, but those are hard to see since there is not a lot of light around. We will be getting more paint anyway to do the upper stairwell.
I am over painting. Yesterday was not so bad as we did all the painting, edging and touch-ups all at once (and there would have been no thin spots had we not run out of paint). My office, the lower stairwell, and the downstairs bathroom are basically done (need to spackle the bathroom tho)… next up is the kitchen and living room… maybe this weekend. That involves another coat on the top edges, touching up around the trim, recoating one wall, and perhaps repainting a stairwell wall (keep orange or repaint with stone?). It won’t be so bad, though, and I will probably do it this weekend.
I did finally put up our watercolor of Stewart Park. Something is finally on the walls. I think I will put the paintings of Sutra and Haley in the lower stairwell.
Seafair is over. The Blue Angels had their last show; I did not watch any of it, but did step out of the house every now and then to see them buzz by. I thought it was nice that so many people were around even though I did not really do anything at Seafair, but that feeling was not universal, and the usual conversations on appropriate uses of tax money, property rights, the military, NIMBYism, and whatnot ensued.
We had pesto for dinner. We had a salad made from the spinach and lettuce plants that we thinned out from our garden. Later we relaxed with practically all of our immediate neighbors behind our townhouses.
Amanda wanted to cut open what she called a nasty abcess on the back of one of my legs. I thought it was a bug bite. Regardless, she removed precious bodily fluids from it and later ordered me to see Proper Medical Care. I don’t think that will be necessary, but we shall see. It is looking better now, but I imagine she will bring back some sharp medical devices today.
To add to the boring medical chitchat: something is eating my foot. I am treating it now, because I liked my feet how they were. I still can run, though, so I cannot blame my lethargy on some invasive critter. Some of Amanda’s toenails are still black from her mountaineering trip. I am surprised they haven’t either fallen off or gotten better.
Ok, enough of that… back to work.
