After a bit of investigation, I convinced Dell to send me another hard drive. I used their online chat… much better than waiting on hold on the phone. The guy basically said, OK, we’ll send a replacement after I laid out the problem. As with anything, it is good to know what one is talking about, so I did not have to deal with any customer service BS.
As for the actual problem, one can’t access certain sections of the HD without fatal errors. Too bad, eh? I can kinda still use the computer though. I think the replacement will come Monday, but perhaps Tuesday at the latest. Then I have the fun of doing yet another system rebuild.
It is hot here. Hot for Seattle anyway. Amanda was on call last night and is trying to sleep upstairs right now. The Bite of Seattle festival is this weekend. I think we will try to go after Amanda gets out tomorrow; she gets out early on the weekends.
Something is invading our garden. Dunno what it is, but its leaves are purplish and it is coming up everywhere. Amanda and I will probably eliminate them later on today.
