I am still slowly extracting data off the desktops old HD via a hacked bootable linux CD that I built to recognize the desktop’s newer hardware. I am burning a bunch of DVD-RW’s. I do not know if the data is fine or not, but I am grabbing it just in case. It looks like the damage was limited to the windows system area, but I guess I will find out when I try to rebuild the system itself. The HD better not be toast as I do not feel like getting on the phone with DELL.
I do have backups of my really important stuff. Now I feel like getting an external disk array to handle data, but that would be a luxury (albeit a handy one).
I cannot remember how long it took me to build the system up the first time, but I seem to remember it taking a few days (due to a variety of things). I will have to compress that time.
It’s a very nice day outside. I hope Amanda does not realize it considering how nasty yesterday was. I did manage to get outside a bit… mainly to get piglet more food from Mud Bay. Her new gourmet wet food diet is many many times more expensive than her previous prescription dry cat food diet, but it does seem to help her UT problems. And the little one is worth it.
