I took Amanda into work at Harborview early this morning and spaced out a bit back at home. I eventually fell back asleep on the sofa with the piglet on my chest.
For whatever mysterious reason, she was done around noon, so I walked down to meet her with the intention of “frolicking” around downtown in her words. It has been very rainy recently, and today was no exception. I got pretty wet walking down (20-25 minute walk); I continually miss my old waxed cotten hat.
As is not uncommon, Amanda was busy when I paged her when I got to the hospital, so I sat around and tried to dry off a bit. There were a few unhappy people waiting around… a reminder to me of one of the many reason I did not go into medicine.
Amanda eventually was free, but she was appalled at the drizzly weather. It had been sunny for about fifteen minutes, and, of course, those fifteen minutes were when she could see outside during the morning. Fortunately, I brought her raincoat, so we decided to make an brief trip downtown.
We went to the library to return some books. Amanda also had to pick up one she had reserved. I still had a few books I am plowing through, so I did not browse for any more.
We then decided to splurge on buying lunch and considered our options. If the weather was better, we would have wandered about and tried some new place out, but in the end we decided to go to the Westlake Center since we had to go that direction anyway to catch the bus and we did not want to wander about getting more wet than necessary. We had falafel, and Amanda stopped at Dilettante Mocha Caf for a coffee and biscotti.
The rain was not deterring the many christian preachers outside. For some reason all of them had amplification (they usually don’t), but they had the volume cranked up too high, so everything was distorted.
We stopped by City Kitchens to look about, and then caught an 11 bus back home. The money accepter thing was busted, so I ended up getting my ride free. woot.
Back at home, Amanda and I took turns taking naps. I got half a billable hour in of work. We had pizza and salad for dinner. I was lame and did not exercise. Amanda is asleep, as she is on call tomorrow. I slept too much and therefore am wide awake right now.
I just finished making granola. Earlier, I waited a bit too long for my maple syrup/sunflower oil to heat up in the microwave, and it exploded. That sucked. Usually I am much more careful. On the bright side of things, cleaning the microwave was on my list of things to do.
I am hungry. Maybe I’ll have some of the granola now.
