well, i have been working a lot. amanda has been interviewing; this week she was at UNC, Duke, Utah, and Denver. actually, she is interviewing at Denver right now and will be taking the red eye back home tonight. then she will be here for a whole week and a half before we head off for portland and SF. she will not be back home until march.
i had dinner with natalie last night and played with her apartmentmate’s cats digit and penny for quite a while. amanda also played with cats (moe and lulu) at laima’s place in boulder.
i got the corolla back today. i got a few exhaust items replaced, the snow tires mounted, and had them replace the driver side lock cylinder which had rusted itself out. unfortunately, toyota does not make the same model lock cylinders i have anymore, so they had to use a new version. the upshot of that is that i now have a different key for the driver side door. the cylinder’s are left/right specific, so i could not move the passenger’s side over. the shop guys left the old cylinder in some mega solvent for the past few days, but no dice; had to use the new one.
steve, one of the guys at the shop i have always seen, was laughing about my check engine light and how lucky i was. of course, i could have always taken it to another place (that pass everyone practically) instead, but apparently nys is trying to crack down on that stuff as well.
natalie has the corolla now and will be driving it up to new hampshire for the holidays. she will return on the 26th to take me and amanda to the airport in buffalo and then perhaps spend a day in toronto before heading back to housesit for us.
anyways, i will be picking up amanda tomorrow morning. she was feeling sick earlier today, hopefully it will be a passing thing. it would be bad for her to finally be home but be too sick to enjoy it.
