friday: work work yadda yadda. amanda had her last day with her medicine sub-internship at buffalo general. she apparently got honors again, at least in the internship, but her final grade is dependant on her exam performance. regardless, we went to blu bistro to celebrate with lainie. we also celebrated lainie’s upcoming last night on call (saturday night) forever; as one might expect, er doctors have no reason to do call really.
after dinner, i took a bunch of headshot pictures of lainie for personals purposes, but flourescent light tends to look rather nasty, so we planned to take more at a later date outside in natural light.
saturday: i have gobs and gobs of work to do that i am outrageously behind in, but amanda has the weekend rather free so i took saturday off. we ran some minor errands before going off to niagara falls because we were at a loss for what to do but wanted to go somewhere where we could walk about and take advantage of the good weather. unlike our last trip to isle de goat, we just parked on the u.s. side and walked across to the canadian side.
what we did:
– did a lot of walking
– looked at the tourist stuff
– looked at the falls, had lunch at kelsey’s
– wondered if anyone actually went into any of the wax museums and other wierd attrractions
– were amazed that the hisory of crime wax museum turned out to be outrageously popular
– wondered if said museum was front for some iliicit activity
– played skee-ball at one of the arcades
– sucked at skeeball and only won some stickers
– got really really wet from spray walking up and down the canadian side of the falls
– decided not to go to marineland
– decided not to ride the maid of the mist, although we agreed it would be fun
– decided that the cave of the winds tour on the u.s. side looked lame
– saw a double wedding in the park/garden beside the rainbow bridge
we saw a woman with the most unflattering dress i or amanda had ever seen. the dress was ok in itself (it was a yellowish-brown sheath thing), but, my gosh, whenever she walked there was massive amounts of cyclic butt-protrusion and butt-jiggling. i am finding it hard to describe exactly what it looked like, but it was quite mesmerizing. i do not think she was in that bad of shape, but the dress was not doing her any favors, especially since everyone on the path was a bit damp from the continuous mist. amanda was so fascinated that we followed them down the path from the horseshoe falls to the rainbow bridge (stopping when they did). we were going to take a picture, but we decided that was way rude.
anyways, later amanda made a stupendous tomato sauce from fresh ones her mom had brought last weekend. fresh tomato sauces are the bomb; too bad they normally look a bit orange and chef-boy-ar-dee-like. we had it with angelhair pasta and a salad while we watched terminator 3.
sunday: i worked on work stuff. amanda worked on her residency applications. we ate a lot of leftover tomato sauce. we did a lot of laundry. amanda made a tasty chocolate zuchini bread and gave a loaf to karen and carlos. lainie came over, and i took a lot more headshots for her outside. they turned out much better than the ones taken before. we had too much pasta and tomato sauce over the day, so we ate at the lone star for dinner. we watched terminator 3 again, but with commentary. amanda went to bed, but i stayed up most of the night because i am really behind at work.
monday: work yadda yadda. amanda had her first day of neurology. we worked on her residency application (i did proofreading) and debated the finer points of style and how we don’t know all the rules pertaining to hyphens and dashes. amanda was fearful of submitted the application (which is online), so we both pressed the mouse button. however, she was fooled because there were many buttons to be pressed to actually submit it. she did the rest herself.
tuesday: back to ithaca. i packed the car with lots of plants. amanda already has three more interviews… she’s the bomb.
