thursday: um, alas, i do not remember. probably watched olympics when i got back home to buffalo. no, i do remember. our toilet clogged, and amanda could not get it unclogged with a plunger, and all sorts of nastiness came up the shower drain. i think various plunger permutations would eventually unclogged it, but one of the sewer joints was obviously leaking into the basement and into the downstair’s apartment’s bathroom. rather disgusting, but we called the landlord, and he was going to send someone over the next day.
friday: worked. the plumber had not come over by 2pm, so i called up the landlord people again to verify, and he (i got to talk with the actual owner guy)had just remembered and had just finished calling it in after my call. jeff (the landlord guy we usually talk to) came by later to see if there was any bad damage. eventually, the plumber came by, shared a bunch of ramdom plumbing knowledge with me, removed the toilet, and used one of those automated power snakes to clear the clog. he put a new toilet seal in for good measure. the plumber was unsure what caused the clog, since the sewer line theoretically (since he could not actually see it) is much bigger than the toilet, so what could have clogged it? hair, paper, “nasty sewage buildup”, or imperfect casting of the pipe, theorized the plumber.
i had waited for amanda to come home to exercise, but she was beat and did not desire too (in spite of her vows to exercise more and insisting that i exercise with her). i did a bit of exercising, but i was feeling weird after all the sewage smell in the apartment, so i bailed early and instead cleaned up and sterilized the bathroom (as of monday, it stlil needs some work… ran out of bleach). actually, amanda was starving, so before i went to work on the bathroom, i got some takeout from the lone star fajita grill. more olympics was in our future that evening.
saturday: amanda theoretically was on call, so i spent the day working and doing chores and whatnot. she got out early, tho. she again did not wish to exercise as she apparently spends all day walking around, which is good. for some reason i did not exercise saturday, probably because i had planned to later, but since amanda came home plans changed. we ended up just going for walk and dropped by dash’s (for random food items) and hertel-parker liqour (for wine). dinner was simply wine, cheese, and salad. and more olympics.
sunday: i was going to work today since i thought amanda was working continuously until the rotation was over, but apparently, she always has one of the weekend days off. amanda made omlettes for bfast, and we considered what to do with our day. amanda got distracted by various things that had to be done immediately, so our adventures outside were delayed. she did find what looks to be a great place to live in seattle and made arrangements for that.
one of our new neighbors continued to move in, but drive their big uhaul into the back parking lot and took down our phone line. i was mildly irritated, but accidents happen, and normal people do not necessarily think about how big a truck is and how low phone, cable, and power lines can be. fortunately, only the phone lines was effected.
amanda called up the phone company on her cell phone, and they said they would take care of it tomorrow.
meanwhile, we went off to see old fort niagara. it was very nice, although amanda was reluctant to go. apparently, she had been tormented in her youth by going to forts and other historical sites, but this outing was quite pleasant. i went to a lot of historical sites in my youth as well, but apparently, i enjoyed them more. there were a lot of people there, which surprised me; unfortunately, the crowds made it hard to get good pictures.
back i home, i got in some lifting and whatnot before amanda, lainie and i went to the fuji grill for some sushi (and stir fried tofu for amanda). alas, our intent to eat out less was not all that successful in its first week (tho we really only ate out once… the lone star fajita grill is pretty cheap). dinner was good. lainie was beat because she had been up all night, so she retired after dinner, and did amanda and myself since we will be back to the grind tomorrow.
monday: the phone guys came out and replaced the phone cable from the apartment to the telephone pole outside. it took them quite a long time. work, etc. amanda has come home. who knows want the evening holds?
