our main sewage line is blocked up here in buffalo. actually, just the part between the toilet and the shower drain. amanda spent a bit of time plunging the toilet when it happened, but stopped when she realized that it was coming up the shower. i thought it was just blocked with hair and/or tp, so i just went to dashes and bought some drain opener (for the shower not the toilet). i was going to keep plunging and whatnot since amanda had to go to bed, but apparently, one of the pipes is leaking, from one of the joints i guess, because nontrivial amounts of stuff is leaking through the downstairs apartment’s bathroom ceiling and down the main sewage line in the basement. all that is probably necessary is to snake the toilet (the probable main blockage)… the leaky joints is a bit more problematic, not perhaps a non-issue if our apartment was not blocked. i used to have a snake long enough, but who knows where that is. i probably left it at my old house on wood street in ithaca. however, someone should be coming tomorrow, so all should be well.
actually, perhaps amos (our landlord’s maintenance guy) will just come by since he has been at the neighboring building doing massive work on a recently empty apartment whose previous tenants trashed the place.
