vishal finally showed up at home, so he joined us for dinner. he was quite shocked i put on a button-down shirt (albeit with jeans and “ratty hiking boots” as amanda would say).
we had dinner at zaza’s cucina, a very good italian place that amanda and i had been to once before. i think lainie had wanted to go since buffalo apparently has a dearth of good italian restaurants. dinner was good. since we were going the decadent dinner route anyay, we decided to get dessert and drinks at madeline’s. there were scads of people there, so we just sat at the bar. only vishal and amanda ended up getting dessert, but we did spent quite a bit of time yakking at the bar.
eventually all of us made it back home. we had a few beers, but i ended up going to bed. amanda decided to make a fire in the backyard, so everyone else spent time around the fire, drinking beer, and shooting the shit.
sunday: all of us slept in (relatively speaking). we thought about making panckaes at home, and then decided to go out for brunch since lainie was visiting (and to continue the decadent weekend). after all, it was kinda like a road trip for us, and the new house is kinda like a summer cabin. we ate brunch at the mohagany grill on the commons. i had never been there before, but it is unlikely i will return. the food was mediocre, and the service was pretty bad. eventually, we got out of the restaurant and went back to my workplace to pick up my car and get a few drinks.
vishal stayed at work of course, while the rest of us decided to stop off at the outlet mall in waterloo on the way back to buffalo. unfortunately, circumstances were such that all of us were driving separate cars, but we made a little convoy up 89 to the thruway. we were delayed over the first twenty miles by some sunday driver who refused to go faster than 40mph even tho the limit is 55mph. it proved difficult to pass the car, but fortunately it turned off and allowed us to proceed at a more tolerable speed.
we bopped about the mall for a while, but no purchases were made. stuff was simply too expensive for an outlet place. we took off for home since lainie had to work a twelve hour shift from 8pm to 8am that night. we eventually made it home to our piglet, who was very happy to see us.
monday: amanda went off to work, whilst i stayed home and worked. i did not get the usual cleaning done, but did get my lifting in, get the dishes cleaned up and fridge slightly cleaned out, get the fish taken care of, etc. . amanda got home a bit late. we had veggie pad thai for dinner. amanda is now asleep, while i am trying to finish some things up before heading back to ithaca tomorrow morning. time to wrap up this entry and get back to work…
