tuesday: as usual i headed back to ithaca early in the morning. the usual occured: work, meetings (tuesdays are now a bit meeting day for me), etc.. i took a trip back to the house in brooktondale during the day to see if any car insurance stuff had come in; i did get my policy change documents, but nothing on renewal. i guess i will take care of it next week since our insurance “runs out” at the beginning off june.
i had stopped at the post office to mail of our brooktondale rent, and some woman shouted out at me as she was driving off: “next time keep your distance!”. i was puzzled at this comment, as i had no idea what she was talking about. i had been behind her for a bit driving to the post office, but hardly was being an evil driver; indeed, i had to think for a while to figure out when i could have possibly interacted with this woman. what can you do.
don was going to take off for his new job location in manchester on thursday, so he, vishal, and i went out to dinner. of all the places we could have gone to, we went to applebees (vishal’s choice… don did not really care). the food was better at the ithaca applebees than the amherst one, tho. don and vishal spent dinner bitching about work (mostly vishal tho). don would be taking off on thursday after the movers show up. i had arranged to work in buffalo for the rest of the week, so i would not be seeing him again before he left.
i made it back to buffalo late that night. amanda as might be expected was sleeping on the couch with piglet with the mummy returns playing.
wednesday: who can say what happened. i worked. amanda worked. we went to mighty taco for lunch… it had been quite a while. i found out that carlos proposed to karen at some point earlier (her birthday prehaps?); i don’t know if she said yes, but i would assume so. karen was mildly irritated that she did not get a ring, even though carlos apparently has one. don’t know what is up with that. i did not have a ring when i proposed to amanda.
erika came over that night to hang out a bit. we had a tasty salad with artichoke hearts and grilled red peppers and the like for dinner.
thursday: i worked. amanda worked. these guys came over to cut down the tree in our backyard that half blew over a while ago and took out the neighbors powe rfor a while. they managed to get it chopped up with only a couple of knocked down cables (the telephone lines for the two apartments beside us, i believe). i think they will be back to get rid of another dying tree later.
amanda stopped by wegmans before coming home. she bought these “french twist” snacks that apparently are very popular in weight watcher’s circles as they are “1 point” — around 50 calories each. they were very very tasty, but perhaps i defeated the purpose of things by eating eight of them.
lainie invited us to go out to dinner with a friend of hers. we ended up going to le metro on elmwood. the food was ok, if expensive for what it was. lainie was put out that they did not have their salad with grilled vegetables and declared that she would never come there again. afterwards we relaxed in her apartment for a while before heading back home.
i was feeling a migraine coming on, but fended it off with darkness, caffeine, and over-the-counter drugs. amanda feel asleep on the couch, while i watched select scenes from unforgiven and the sixth sense. amanda roused enough to fall asleep in bed while i hit the grindstone and worked until 4am or so.
friday: work again. what is life after all. amanda went to the albright-knox gallery with her current attending and other coworkers. she has returned now, and we are contemplating what to do for lunch and when we will lift. of course, maybe i should get back to work after spending all this time updating my weblog.
