i went out to dinner with vishal yesterday at just a taste. we had a bunch of tapas, but they were pretty mediocre, which was unusual. the chef definitely screwed some of them up. we went to madelines for dessert and drinks to shoot the shit about work, life, the universe, and everything.
his moving to cali and general future is up in the air, so i do not know how long he will be staying with me.
work is pretty crazy, but obviously that is not something i can talk about. suffice it to say, 2004 does not look like it will go down as one of my favorites in my years at work.
i looked at a house in brooktondale today that looks good. it is about seven miles or so from downtown ithaca. it is a one bedroom loft house that was modeled after a house in a fairy tale. the development itself is kinda funny; after driving through upstate new york style appalachia, these houses pop up. the developer builds three every year and paints them different colors. there are about twenty four little houses there now. amanda will be coming down tomorrow to look at it as she has friday off (“good friday”… why buffalo has christian holiday off … christmas can be explained easier… is mysterious to me).
i actually looked at one farther out a couple of days ago that was quite similiar. it was much older (it had been the old one room schoolhouse for the area), in definitely worse shape, an extra six miles out of town, and no high speed internet access!
anyways, hopefully all will be well, and we can get this house for us next year. the current residents actually are from burlington, ontario, and live near the ikea we like to go to.
