there have not been alot of of entries recently; i guess i have been too busy to deal with the weblog. of course, now that i have a bit of time, i am thinking the weekend was kinda blah. work… various crises… etc.
yesterday, we watched the warriors, a perhaps unintentially hilarious nyc gang film that i had heard about but had never seen. apparently, it was quite controversial when it came out in 1979, but far more tame by current standards.
lainie came over last sunday to lift and do taxes via our copy of turbo tax. we had a nice wine/cheese/mushroom/asparagus dinner. we also had a a body-for-life “cheat” dinner at pizzeria uno on saturday, but then, every day is a “cheat” day for me. the waiter kept saying how nice it was outside (even tho it was cold and rainy); i surmised he had been trapped at the restaurant all day.
there are four neons left in the tropical tank. we still have no idea who is responsible. tho i guess i should be glad because for a while i thought only two were left. yesterday i also noticed that one of the marble angel fish was gone! his disappearance is much more alarming and unexplainable. the fish tank is yielding no answers yet, tho.
amanda is altering her body-for-life eating program (six meals a day with one carb and one protein unit each). since her meals were so regimented, we never actually cooked anything “real”, and that was a bit weird. she was also not really eaying a lot of vegetables and was getting really tired of protein bars. so she is slightly modifying it, i presume to squeeze in an actual dinner.
work is kinda blah and more stressful than it needs to be.
i am also looking for a new place to live as my current lease in ithaca with natalie is done at the end of april. amanda will be living in ithaca (when she is not off on an away rotation) this fall, so i am looking for a place for both of us and the piglet. apartment/house hunting is always crazy especially around here with all the overpriced student housing around. but i am sure it will all sort itself out. i can always sack out here at work or set up a tent on state land if need be for the two nights i am around… not really my preference, but always possible.
i looked at a place seven miles up the west side of cayuga lake, but it did not seem worth it to me. there were a few too many annoyances/disadvantages that were not made up by its advantages. as opposed to, say, our current place in buffalo whose only real thing i did not like before renting is the fact that we do not have a private entrance.
i was talking to someone about a place between dryden and slaterville (again, maybe seven to ten miles out of ithaca) which sounds pretty nice as is available really soon. its obvious big minus is that i probably cannot get high speed internet access where it is (important!), the cell phone coverage is unknown, and it might be a bit cozy (translation: “small”), but i think i will try to look at it anyway.
i still have to recap our previous two weekends (where we went to philadelphia and toronto)… maybe later…
