i have decided the south beach diet is not all that. i think it’s current popular incarnation is formulated as the new chic way to lose weight (which would be useful for me, but i can do that via more violent exercise), whereas i am more interested in simply eating healthier. i will probably simply choose a max daily carb intake each day and avoid sugar rushes (e.g. eating a discrete can of pringles say).
i definitely felt the effects of slashing my carb intake over the past few days. and it wasn’t a good feeling. i am continuously vaguely hungry and do not feel like i am at anywhere near a physical or mental peak. i told amanda it feels like i’ve been on a long hike everyday but without the muscle fatigue. i guess that’s not surprising because my blood sugar is surely lower than normal.
i had a few pieces of toast yesterday, and let me tell you i felt great afterwards. i think i’ll go downstairs to the basement right now and search for my last pringles can amanda stashed away.
anyways, jesse has been on a “working” vacation upstate at his father’s place, and he dropped by ithaca on wednesday to take a break from his vacation and visit his mother and whatnot. we had dinner at the state diner when he got into town (2230); he had one of those breakdown prone trips from wherever his father’s place is (3 hours or so away). we yakked about various things for a long time at the diner, and then he was off. twas got to see him. he was going to leave the next day (yesterday), but decided to stay in ithaca another day due to alleged lake effect storms.
i managed to get back to buffalo and did not see much snow, but it was very very windy. his father’s place is north of syracuse, which gets much much more snow than buffalo and ithaca, so perhaps his caution was wise.
