buffalo (and a lot of the north east apparently) is getting hammered by an ice storm right now, so i will not be making it back to ithaca today. i probably could have made it back alright, but it would have taken a long long time, so why go thru the pain? amanda did not want me to die from some other misbehaving car. i just got back from driving amanda to work and confirmed that it would not be useful to drive to ithaca at 10-15 mph. the cars on the road were definitely not well behaved.
tompkins country is supposed to get hit with a lot of snow tonight, but snow is much easier to drive in than the ice coating everything right now. buffalo should get a little, but not as much.
ah, even as i type this, the ice is changing to snow. but it will probably change back to ice and freezing rain in a couple of minutes.
