i ran into my old coworker kevin with whom i worked at the cornell law school many years ago (like, say, ten). he was bumming about the mall waiting for his truck to get fixed. apparently he now works for cornell information technologies doing tech support. he doesn’t do tech support for the university, but rather the department. it seems strange to me that cit itself needs tech support, as one would think that all the people working there don’t need it and/or support each other.
cit would not hire me years ago. i am still bitter :) :) :).
i am still fiddling about with erikas notebook computer when i get the chance during the day. in the time it took me to download some patches, it managed to get itself infected with a virii. crazy. however, all seems well at the moment, and her system has been slimmed down and optimized and whatnot. all that remains is to harden the system against virii, worms, spybots, and other nogood evildoers. i installed openoffice on her machine, which perhaps will be good enuf for her. if i were evil i could put office xp on it, but since i work for a software company, i can hardly support such flagrant ip violations.
