way famous art

amanda went in the to hospital today, but was only there for three or so hours. after she returned, we went to the albright-knox gallery to take in a bit of culture. they had a special showing of famous “masterworks” as they call them… van gogh, picasso, renoir, gaugin, cezanne, yadda yadda yadda. we asked the admissions people if it was worth the $15 admission each (decadent, i know), and they said of course. so its “way famous art?” we replied. the museum people found that very amusing.
we ran into erich vorlop outside the musem; he was post call from buffalo general. apparently, he did not wish to pay for the way famous art, so he just looked at the free stuff. amanda and he traded disgusting surgery stories. there are also a couple of weddings on the museum steps and in delaware park. amanda kept disparaging the bridemaids dresses, which i thought was not very nice of her. we all agreed that the brides must’ve been dying in their fancy wedding dresses in the heat and humidity.
we had stuffed mushrooms, asparagus, pesto on french bread, and a cheap pinot noir (from smoking loon… it was pretty good for the price) for dinner. carlos came up and wanted me to go running, but i was lame. conveniently, i had a great excuse because i was in the middle of cooking.
amanda has been asleep for a while now since she is on call for 26-29 hours tomorrow. i should be asleep as well, as i am going to get up and the same time and work. oh, well.
last night, we ate dinner with carlos at a cafe called romeo and juliet’s on hertel. actually, i think romeo’s is the bakery and juliet’s in the wine and cheese bar (where we ate). we wanted to get carlos out of the apartment because all he does is work on his portfolios (he’s a landscape architect) all day. we couldn’t convince him to hang about after dinner tho.
afterwards, amanda and i met erika and katy at a coffehouse on elmwood and just hung about. katy was recovering from conjuntivitis, but looked fine to us.
btw… i did manage to get my taxes sent out on time. there were many people at the post office with two letters (one of federal and one for state perhaps?). very suspicious.
