amanda and i went for an extended run yesterday evening. we ran up to cornell and around beebee lake and back. it was quite nice, even though we had gotten trapped in mvr after looking for a water fountain. while we were passing through the ag quad, i should have visited the old public computer rooms i had managed while in school. a couple of years ago, a paper sign that i had made ( “please use the other door” ) was still taped up. impressive, since i had put it there in 1989 or so.
there were many other people running about; sometimes i forget how many people are associated with cornell. there were even two people running in blue jeans.
we saw a large flotilla of canada geese ( i prefer “flotilla” rather than “gaggle” ) lounging about the lake. like the geese around work, i guess they decided not to return to canada and instead live the easy life in the landscaped areas in ithaca. there were many little geese also; although i see canada geese all the time, i have not seem the young in recent years. we also saw a very large turtle (who looked like he really wanted a finger to eat) and other waterfowl that i could not identify as my peterson’s field guide is in buffalo.
